Sotheby’s International Properties is excited to announce the launch of a new specialty market website for historic properties. This website will offer a world wide database of properties and information on such properties. While Flagstaff doesn’t have an abundance of historic properties, we do have a few that would be a great addition to the site. Hopefully, over time, Russ Lyon Sotheby’s of Flagstaff will contribute some of our beautiful local homes. Click to learn more about our new website: http://ow.ly/nx73w

GREAT PLACES TO LIVE IN FLAGSTAFF AZ

January 3, 2011 Leave a comment

Recently Flagstaff got a fairly heavy snowstorm and for that reason, I thought that it would be beneficial to discuss one of the areas to live in Flagstaff and note a few of the differences between it and other areas to live. The area I am talking about is Doney Park. Doney Park consists of a number of subdivisions with homes from the lower end to the upper end. Also, Doney Park is a rural area with lots running from an acre to five acres in general. For people who desire a rural environment Doney Park has the following advantages over most other rural areas:
1. Substantially less snowfall; i.e. during this last snowstorm, Doney Park received approximately 6 inches of snow versus 24 plus inches for many other areas. In general, this is the norm
2. Doney Park’s temperature dropped to 18.5 below zero versus 28-30 below for many other rural areas. In general, Doney Park is warmer in the winter and summer.
3. Water is an issue in most other rural areas however, not for Doney Park. Doney Park has its own water company which is called Doney Park Water. Just like the city, home owners in Doney have all the water they need piped to their homes. No wells or hauling water which is the norm for most other rural areas.
4. Proximity to the city. This is another biggie. Doney is quite close to town with paved roads making travel easy. Often other areas are quite distant.

In sum, if your life style longs for a rural environment but one which still makes life a little less stressful, consider Doney Park. Thanks for reading. Please don’t hesitate to contact me for additional information on Flagstaff and its other fine areas and life style choices.
